The Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi

by Katia M8 July 2018

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque or simply known as the Grand Mosque is definitely a magnificent religious place to visit while in Abu Dhabi. Its architectural work features 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, 24-carat gold gilded chandeliers and the worlds largest hand-knotted carpet.

The Mosque can accommodate about 40,000 worshippers. There are pools that surround the mosque from which you can see the reflection, which magnifies the beauty of the place.

When visiting the Mosque, try to avoid Fridays because of the prayer day and the visiting hours are shortened. However, for a more beautiful light experience, visit the Mosque around the sunset until it gets dark. It is a different atmosphere at night when all the lights are turned on.

The entrance to the Grand Mosque is free. As a question of respect, make sure what you are wearing is decent. You will be given an Abaya before entering the religious place anyway because you need to have your head covered ladies at all time.

You will walk out of the Mosque like you have been cleansed.
