My Makeup Looks

by Katia M19 March 2018

Who does not love makeup? I do, however, I always opt for the next perfect skin makeup look- subtle and natural during the day. When it comes to an evening look, I would go for some glitter on my lids, smoky at times, with my lips RED always. (Red lips is kind of my Signature look)

My most common beauty look is a bit fresher, summer feel (rosy/bronzed cheeks, nude/a light tint of pink or orange on my lips) and I like to have my brows well shaped because I think it gives a hefty character to the natural look.

I thought since a lot of us are in the business world, I’d share this easy natural makeup look for work, sharing my most-liked products from M.A.C Cosmetics. It is less of a hassle when you can find all products in one store, isn’t it?

Below is a rapid step by step on how to get this look:

  1. On a clean face, I start with the base to which I applied the Oil Control Lotion all over using my fingertips. It is perfect for mixed and oily skin type as it offers an oil-free and lightweight hydration.

  1. Then for the foundation, I used both the Pro Longwear Foundation NC 35 for a full coverage mixed with the Studio Face and Body Foundation C2 to get my next skin perfect. Also, using the 187S Duo Fibre Face Brush to apply the foundation as it makes it so effortless.

  1. Next step, I work on my brows. I like it well shaped and I use the Great Brows Kit – Spiked. I find it convenient to shape my brows with this kit as it comes with small brushes. Then I apply the Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer NC42 under the eyes.

  1. When it comes to the eyeshadows, my favorites, are shades of Brown. Either for a soft smoky or full smoky look. To start, I used the Era Satin which I applied all over the eyelids, followed by the Soba Satin which I used in the crease and I ended with the Espresso matte in the outer corner. For an evening look I will just add a little of satin in the inner corner and a darker shade in the crease, blend it softly in to make realize a more intense look.

  1. To finish with the eye, I applied the mascara Haute & Naughty Too, Black Lash just with one layer of mascara because its a day makeup and for the last touch I added the Espresso Matte again under the eye which I smudge using the 219S Pencil Brush. For an evening look, I would just go for a layer more of the Mascara and use the Technakohl eyeliner GraphBlack.

  1. Going back to the face, I now work on the contouring using the Mineralize SkinFinish – Natural Powder Dark. Usually, we pick one which is two shades deeper than our overall colour. The Mineralize SkinFinish is easily blendable. I applied it to the forehead, up to the hairline and blend it in. When it comes to the cheekbones, take it down till you find the hollow part by placing your fingers on the sides of your face, and where you feel it dip underneath the bones, just above is where you place your pigment. I will also put some on the sides of my nose to add length to it and some on my jawline. Blend it all in, making a circular motion with your brush.
  1. To get my cheekbones lit, I used the highlighter Strobe Cream-Goldlite which is in a liquid form. I personally think it’s a must-have! Not too heavy, still it illuminates your face in the right way. And I also used a little of the Matte Powder Blush -Desert Rose to give this fresh and summery touch.

  1. Coming to my best part, the Lips! I used the Lip Duo – Lip Pencil Velvet Teddy and the Retro Matte Velvet Teddy for this Nude lips. To realize an evening makeup look I just make the lips a darker shade, RED, using the Lip Duo – Lip pencil Ruby Woo and the Retro Matte Lipstick Ruby Woo.
  1. To set it all up, I used the Mineralize SkinFinish – Natural Powder Dark Golden all over my face.

There you have it, my natural and my evening Look!

Above are the easy steps I use to get my base done. It is quite a pretty natural look, that you can now add whatever colour you want, from hues of nudes to darker shades on your lips as well as on your eyelids.

I have also listed for you my favorite hues of nudes and Red. I thought it help you choose your perfect shades easier. I have a preference for the Retro Matte collection because they are of perfect coverage for dark lips:

Nudes: Kinda Sexy, Mehr, Honey Love, Please Me, Velvet Teddy

Dark Reds: Russian Red, Lady Danger, Ruby Woo, Diva, Relentlessly Red, Winner

And for this summer these are the lips shades I recommend to try when you go in the MAC shop: Retro Matte Tropic Tonic Lipstick for a light orange tint and the Lip Pencil – In Anticipation for a pink summer shade.
